Empowering you to Thrive with PD.
We specialize in Parkinson's disease, but our services are customized to you. We will tailor our services to match your unique goals, interests, and challenges. Together, we will develop an effective and meaningful program that will help you take control of your symptoms and start living life on your terms. You did not choose to have Parkinson’s disease but you do have the ability to make many choices every single day that can impact how you move, think, and feel. We want to help empower you with the knowledge and confidence to realize your incredible potential to Thrive with Parkinson’s.
Things that matter a whole lot to us:
Accessibility: We intentionally do not have a “brick and mortar” clinic—we will gladly come to you for physical therapy or private wellness sessions. We understand that getting out for routine appointments is easier said than done, especially with today’s busy lifestyles. Seeing you in your home not only allows for a convenient, comfortable experience, it is also more effective. Seeing you move in your natural environment instead of a clinic gives us a much clearer picture of the things that may be challenging for you, which helps us to make your treatment as functional (and therefore meaningful!) as possible.
Specialization: In addition to being a Board Certified Neurologic Specialist, I am certified in both LSVT BIG and Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) and have been trained by the Dutch organization ParkinsonNet. Parkinson’s is a complex condition that should not be managed by generalists alone. A recent research study found that patients who were seen by Parkinson’s disease-specialized therapists had fewer Parkinson’s disease-related complications compared to those who were seen by non-specialized therapists.
Community: No one person or family should try to fight Parkinson’s disease alone. In addition to seeing many of our clients privately in their homes, we also strive to build a community where everyone feels engaged, supported, and cared about. Our group neuro fitness classes are designed to foster connections and create meaningful relationships. We look forward to hosting additional community events in the future and creating a powerful Parkinson’s tribe in Rochester!
Empowerment: It is our goal to help you get back into the driver’s seat of your life. Through creating a personalized “plan of attack,” we will systematically address your biggest concerns relating to Parkinson’s while giving you the knowledge base and confidence to be your own best advocate now and in the future.
YOU! You are at the heart of Thrive’s existence and your decision to trust Thrive as a participant in your journey is something we do not take for granted. We are right beside you, hoping for and anticipating a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Until that time comes, we will do the best we can to help you move better and feel your best today.
HELLO! I'm Ashley, the founder of Thrive Physical Therapy. First of all, I'm so grateful that you are here. I am very passionate about what I do and it means a lot to me that you are taking the time to learn more about what Thrive can offer you or your loved one. People who have seen me work will attest to my enthusiasm and compassion for my clients. My career has included working in early intervention, skilled nursing facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, and home-care. From this diverse background, I've developed a strong foundation and deep interest in working with individuals with neurologic conditions. I am a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy (NCS), which is a designation I am honored to hold. I've further narrowed my specialization to include Parkinson’s disease-specific certifications such as LSVT BIG and Parkinson Wellness Recovery (PWR!). I am also a trained ParkinsonNet Allied Health Professional. My mission as a physical therapist is to empower individuals with Parkinson’s disease to positively change the trajectory of their condition and take back control of their lives.
Why did I choose to specialize so intensely in Parkinson's Disease? FOR SO MANY REASONS. My deep interest in neurology, my awareness of the profound need for more accessible expert clinicians for people with PD, and my passion for lifelong wellness are a few. My life has been touched by many incredible people with Parkinson’s disease, including my amazing grandfather (here's a photo of us dancing at my wedding).
When I don't have my physical therapist’s cap on, you will most likely find me with my supportive husband and our energetic little boy. We love being outdoors, growing food in our community garden, and exploring the wonderful city we live in. I stay active through a combination of a Vinyasa yoga practice, running, chasing a toddler, and moving with my inspiring clients.
