>> Do you see clients who have conditions other than Parkinson’s?
Absolutely! As a Board Certified Neurologic Specialist, Ashley has extensive experience working with people who have various neurologic conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy. We would love to speak with you directly to discuss your unique situation and goals, and to determine how Thrive can serve you best.
>> Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No, you don't. In New York State, licensed physical therapists are permitted to perform an evaluation and provide physical therapy for 30 days or 10 visits (whichever comes first) without a prescription from a physician. We will gladly assist you in the process of obtaining a prescription, should you need one after that. Our wellness and fitness programs do not require a physician's referral.
>> Do you take my insurance?
Thrive is a participating provider with Medicare. We are an outpatient physical therapy practice and therefore apply your Medicare part B benefits.
If you have questions about coverage for your particular insurance plan, please contact us and we'd be happy to help.
>> FOR How long will I need physical therapy?
We see most clients 2-4 times per week for 3-6 weeks. This frequency and duration is based on research that has demonstrated improved outcomes when people with neurologic conditions work with a physical therapist at a more intensive frequency. When you do complete a course of physical therapy, we will help to make sure you are set up with an individualized wellness program (either with Thrive, in the community, at home, or a combination of those options). Further, due to the progressive nature of Parkinson’s disease, we recommend a “checkup” 6 months after your discharge from PT to ensure that you’re maintaining your gains and that no new therapy needs have arisen.
>> Where is your office?
We come to you! Thrive is a concierge-model practice, which means that we provide physical therapy and private wellness sessions in your home or another location of your choice. We serve clients in the Greater Rochester area. Our group classes are currently held in Fairport, NY.
>> What is your cancellation policy?
We are committed to providing exceptional care. Unfortunately, if one client cancels without giving enough notice, they prevent another client from being seen during that time. Please call us at (585) 851-8259 by 2:00 PM on the day prior to your scheduled appointment to notify us of any changes or cancellations. To cancel or change a Monday appointment, please call by 2:00 PM on Friday. If prior notice is not given, you will be charged $75.00 for the missed appointment.
Group exercise classes are pre-paid at the beginning of each new class series. If you are absent for a group exercise class, you will not be refunded for that class; however, you are permitted to schedule a make-up class, as long as space permits. We allow 1 month after the missed class to schedule the make-up class date.
